Solar Eclipse

I didn't realize what a big deal the solar eclipse was until all of a sudden I realized it. And by then it was too late. Not that it mattered. We were in a 92% area. So it wasn't like home wasn't going to be a good place to watch. But I would have tried to get to 100%. Only. My sister got married Sunday at 3pm. And the solar eclipse was Monday. Not gonna work.

We made the best of it. A friend of mine posted about a friend of hers who had legit glasses for sale about a month prior. I jumped on that ship so fast. And stocked up for me, Jen, Shannon, and my Mom. This was a big deal and we weren't missing it.

Morning of we packed snacks and lunch.  Grabbed our glasses and headed up to a park to wait.

The kids were pretty excited.  Well Preston was.  I'm not sure Liv was really all that sure Liv fully realized how cool it was.

It was time!

The kids did think it was awesome once we were at 92% totality.  It was crazy how dark it did get.  And, for lack of a better word, creepy it felt.  Just slightly off.

Best part about watching the eclipse at a park is that when it was over the kids could play!

I'm honestly not sure what part they liked the best.  I may have already started planning ahead for the next one and how to get us into the path of totality.  It's going to be awesome.

Jessie's Bachelorette Party

Queen of procrastination my sister is finally having a bachelorette party!  Her and Josh opted not to do separate friends events and instead to just do one bachelor/bachelorette boating day.  So we rented a pontoon boat on Lake C'da and away we went.

We only almost died about point five seconds into driving away from the dock.  No biggie.  There was some confusion on stopping and going and then the water all crashed over the front.  And after that we moved all of the bags to safer spots!

Me and Jessie!

Naturally I was in charge of all of the photos.  Because someone has to make sure there are photos to look back on!

We had the boat for four hours I think.  We drove around, stopped to swim in a few different areas, drank, snacked, jumped on the cliffs, drank some more, Matt showed off his incredible skill in diving from the boat through the hole of a ring tube.

Some of us drank a little too much. Poor Riss!  Ha!

Brad had opted not to come and instead went and met up with a friend of his from work and his girlfriend with Liv to do some boating on Lake C'da too.  She had an absolute blast.  And a million and a half too many packs of fruit snacks.

When we finished and returned our boat, they came and picked me up on the dock and I just switched boats for the rest of the day.

Meanwhile Preston was off on boys weekend with Grandpa and Grandma up at the river.  So he had his own day of fun!

Have I mentioned how much I love summer?  Because YES!

It was a good day for the lake.  Warm.  Sunny.  FUN!

Sand castles were built.

Oh Harper!  Have to be right on or touching Mama!
