Feeding The Tortoise

One of our malls has a reptile store with giant tortoises in the back. We go in to look every time we visit the mall. My Mom noticed a sign that said you could buy lettuce at the front desk to feed them, so she bought some for Preston! At first he was a little hesitant but then he thought it was fun! I couldn't believe how much the thing would climb up for it!

21 Weeks

How far:  21 Weeks

Maternity Clothes:  Not yet.  But I'm getting there.  At least for pants.  Currently I can't button them and am using a rubber band to keep them closed.  Looks like pregnancy and size threes with a twenty six waist don't really go together all that well!  Ha!

Weight Gain:  I saw my Dr on Wednesday and I have gained nine pounds so far.  Not bad!  I need to figure out what I weigh on my home scale (since it's always different than the one at my Dr's office) and start keeping track of what I've gained!

Stretch Marks:  No new ones.  I have a couple of little ones on my side from Preston that usually aren't visible but are starting to become more noticeable, to me at least!

Belly Button:  Still in.  But starting to try to pop out.

Best Moment:  She is starting to move around more and I can feel her.  In fact today she had like a ten minute movement party that I was invited to be apart of!

Worst Moment:  I can't really think of one.  I'm not sleeping great.  So that sucks.  Mostly because I am having crazy dreams and having to pee ALL THE TIME!

Foods I Hate:  Nothing specific.  Right now at least.  I don't like the smell of a lot of things still.  But I can't think of anything I hate.

Foods I Love:  Thai food.  I picked some up for takeout and it pretty much completed my life.  I also had to have me some cereal this week.  Honey Bunches of Oats to be specific.  Even though I knew it might make me feel crappy I needed it.  And it did.  Dang milk thing.

Cravings:  A glass of milk!  Especially when I eat dinner at my parents.  I'm good at home since none of us are big milk drinkers.  But when I eat at my parents there are always like two gallons of milk on the table and I always have a glass of milk there with dinner.  So that sucked.  Also I am still craving deli sandwiches.  Like nobody's business.  I want one so bad.  This one has been my biggest craving during pregnancy.  Probably because I can't have one.  Brad even sent me a picture of one he was eating at work and it was almost the end of our marriage, I was so jealous.

Sleep:  Like I said above, not great.  I just keep waking up to pee.  When I'm not waking up from my crazy dreams.

Movement:  Yep!  I can feel her moving around in there!  I still can't find her when I poke around my stomach and prompt it though.  Am I the only one who does this?  I used to do it to Preston all the time.  And I've been trying to do it to Olivia, but she's still so small that she seems to be able to just move away from my poking instead of pushing back.

Symptoms:  I'm tired.  Probably because I'm not sleeping.  Because I'm peeing.  And having crazy dreams.  Have I mentioned I'm peeing and having crazy dreams yet?  Because I am.  Ha!

Emotions:  I'm excited!  And freaking out.  We are officially more than halfway there.  And I feel like nothing is done.  We have to finalize the colors for her bedroom.  Paint.  Replace the carpet.  Order her crib.  Decorate.  There is so much to do.  And it's really feeling like not enough time to do it!  I am also loving dressing my baby bump.  I find myself picking more of my tighter stretchy shirts so that it really stands out!

Wednesday With Words

He's just to peaceful when he sleeps. It's hard to believe just how busy he is when he's awake.

Crazy Hair Day

Preston's pre-k class spent the week learning about H. Which meant that Friday was crazy hair/hat day.

Preston decided to go with crazy hair.

Preston's favorite color being green and all it was obvious that we were going to have to make his hair green.

So Friday morning, we got up and headed out of the house. I had to pick up some of that spray on wash out hair color. In green of course.

And had decided that since we were up and out early, we might as well make it a donut before pre-k morning!

Who would have thought that finding the hair color would be easier than finding the donut?

Specifically a sugar donut.

We finally found it at the third, yes THIRD, store we went to. We don't exactly have donut shops around here. Don't even get me started on how much that irritates me. And Preston wanted a sugar donut. They're his favorite. So a sugar donut he was getting.

We were late for pre-k that morning.

But Preston got his sugar donut. And showed up with green hair.

Cutest little green haired boy ever. If I do say so myself.

After pre-k, we headed to Hobby Lobby to look around.  And found some Pittsburgh Steelers duck tape.  Of course we had to take a picture and send it to my Dad.

My Dad sent back asking me who the little leprechaun was!  Ha!

Preston loved crazy hair day and his green hair!

20 Weeks

We're halfway there!

I don't even know how that happened. I feel like I just found out I was pregnant and now we're halfway to meeting her!

There is so much to do to get ready for her arrival.

I had my second trimester ultrasound this week.

Olivia is definitely a girl!

And looks healthy and is measuring right on schedule!

She's also very active!  I love that part about the second trimester ultrasound.  You get to see how much baby moves around.  All without me feeling a whole lot!

My awesome tech printed off some photos of Miss Olivia for us!

My view when I look down at stoplights!

Preston has really been noticing my growing belly.  He asks if he has a "fat baby" in his belly too and then pushes his tummy out as far as he can.  Or if I'm sitting on the couch and have my shirt pulled up over my belly and he notices he comes over to try to pull it down!  I think he's starting to worry that my clothes don't fit anymore when I sit with my belly hanging out!

I was asked for the first time if I was pregnant this week!  I know some people hate being asked, but I have been waiting to look pregnant so that people will notice!  Probably because once I look pregnant it means I've stopped just looking chubby!  A Mom at preschool asked when we were there for pick up.  She wasn't there the day that me and some of the other parents talked about pregnancy and I hadn't realized that I hadn't told her until she looked at me and then looked again and asked if I was expecting!  So exciting!!

I don't know what happened when I took belly photos this week.  I literally could not act like a normal person.  Just a crazy person taking photos of her twenty week baby belly.  Can I blame the hormones for that too?  Ha!

Don't believe me? Check out the belly.  And my ridiculousness!

I told you.

Also I am loving that growing baby bump!  And the baby growing in there!

Next up twenty one weeks!

Thoughts On Thursday

I wish that there was a way to buy the toys that Legos make.  Only they wouldn't come apart.  Preston loves the things on the boxes and wants to use them as toys instead of Legos.  And I can't say I blame him, they are awesome.  The problem is that when you build them you have to be all careful not to break them and they break easily.  And he wants to use them for wars.  And fights.  And battles!  I wonder if you can super glue Legos?

I was cleaning out my voice mail.  Something I probably should do more often since there were like a million old messages in there.  My favorite had to be from the hubs.

"Are you ever going to answer your phone?  I've been calling you all day.  Nothing.  I'm at your parents' house.  Just wondering when you were going to be here."

I don't know why I love it so much but I do.  I have no idea why I wasn't answering my phone or where I was.  From the sound of his voice and the sarcasm it's likely that was the first time he'd called and he thought he was hilarious.  I think I love it so much because he's just hanging out at my parents' house without me, no big thing!

Brad got a raise at work.  It's about dang time!  Ha!  He *should* be getting another one soon.  We hope.

But hurray!

Except that the change in payroll taxes makes it so that we really don't even see the raise.  We just don't see a difference in our paychecks so far this year.

Not exactly what we were hoping for with this raise.

But still, Brad got a raise at work!!

Preston needs a dog.

He keeps trying to leash up our poor cat to take him for a "walk".

So far Monti deals with it.  But doesn't love it.

Then last week when he was out playing in the snow he tried to make Monti his sled cat.  He tried putting Monti on the string attached to the sled so that Monti would pull it.

Three unsuccessful attempts later, I finally told Preston that it probably wasn't going to happen.

I've also promised to get Monti a collar and a leash so that Preston can at least work on walking Monti around the house.

Preston goes to sleep in his bed in his room at night now.  But at some point most nights he ends up in our bed.  After co-sleeping exclusively with him for the first four years of his life, this is progress!!  And it works for us.

I keep having to remind myself that it's not about what works for everyone else it's about what works for us.

That being said last night Brad put him to bed in our room.  Probably because they both went down to go to bed at the same time and my boys are both big on snuggling.  What I love about the nights that Preston starts out in our bed now is that I actually notice that when I go to bed even in his sleep Preston senses me and after I climb in bed he automatically moves towards me and throws a hand out so that he's touching me.  Makes me feel like even though he's growing up, he's still my baby!

Except last night I was also reminded of why it's nice that Preston for the most part sleeps in his own room now when I woke up at three in the morning to him sprawled out in the middle of the bed with me and Brad both taking up tiny bits of space on opposite sides of him.

Definitely don't miss that.

I told Preston he couldn't come out of the playroom until it was clean.  About an hour ago.  I'm not sure he's actually cleaned any of it up.  But he's playing quietly and entertaining himself.  So it's kind of a win?

In fact he just sat down to play one of Brad's old army combat games on the computer.  Still quietly.

I'm thinking he's going to end up eating lunch in there too at this rate.

At one point he even asked me if he'd have to sleep in there if he didn't clean it before bedtime.

Honestly, I'm enjoying the chance to catch up on the blog.  And he's not complaining.  Yet.

And at some point he'll get sick of being in there and actually start cleaning things up.  Right?

I cannot stop buying things for Olivia.  No surprise there.

Brad hasn't said anything about it when I show him the things I've bought or ordered a couple times a week.

I think he was pretty much prepared for this as soon as we found out she was a girl.

Pink is my favorite color.  And it really isn't Preston's color.  So I haven't been able to buy it.

I'm enjoying being able to shop both pink and blue now!

A-Z Of Me

A. Age: 25, I'm a whole quarter century. Which actually freaked me out. I've never freaked out about turning a year older but this one threw me for a loop!

B. Bed size: King. We moved from a queen to a king when Preston was around six months old and it became clear that we were definitely not getting Preston out of our bed anytime soon so we needed more room!

C. Chore you hate: Cooking! Which is just awful because I LOVE eating!

D. Dogs: None...yet. I keep thinking about it. But first we have to get Preston tested for allergies. We think he *might* have an allergy to dog saliva and need to confirm one way or the other. Plus he sometimes reacts to an abundance of dog fur. And then there is that whole poop thing. Nobody in our house is willing to deal with that aspect. But still, I think kids should grow up with a dog!

E. Essential start to your day: My phone. I don't wake up immediately, so being able to lay in bed and scroll through my email and social media apps helps me transition from being asleep to being awake.

F. Favorite color: Pink!!

G. Gold or Silver: Silver. Or white gold. I'm not big on the look of actual gold.

H. Height: 5'8".

I. Instruments you play: None. I don't even sing well! Ha!

J. Job Title: Stay At Home Mom. Otherwise known as I do pretty much everything around these parts, with the exception of bringing home the paycheck!

K. Kids: A totally awesome, adorable, and very opinionated five year old boy, Preston. And currently 20 weeks pregnant with a little girl who we can't wait to meet, Olivia!

L. Live: I was born in California. Now live in Washington, where my family moved when I was six.

M. Married: Yep! To Brad! For four years now. We met my junior year of high school and have been together since my senior year.

N. Nicknames: Mostly just Kim. But my family also calls me Kimmers. And when I was younger my Grandpa used to call me Tall Girl!

O. Overnight hospital stays: Just when I had Preston!

P. Pet Peeve: People who aren't honest about who they are. I don't care if you're dramatic or judgmental or bitchy, I only care when you refuse to acknowledge that part about yourself! It's better to know your faults than to pretend they don't exist because they make you less than perfect!

Q. Quote: I love so many! So many! But my favorite is the same as Mandy's! "No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all you are the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside." And "You were like coming up for fresh air. It's like I was drowning and you saved me."

R. Righty or Lefty: Righty!

S. Siblings: Sure do. There are five of us. I have three sisters and a brother.

T. Time you wake up: Between 8-8:30am.

U. University attended: I went to one in Washington for a year.

V. Vegetables you dislike: A lot of them! Ha! I really can't stand broccoli though. And squash, yuck!

W. What makes you run late: What doesn't make me run late? I am pretty much always late. Always have been. Ooops. Even when I get up early, I'm still late.

Y: Yummy food: I just love food. I'm a big fan of Mexican food though!

Z. Zoo Animal: Polar bears! I love polar bears. But if we're being honest, I just love the zoo! I'm like a little kid about it!

19 Weeks

Not a whole lot to report this week.

I'm still feeling pretty good.

I'm still feeling little flutters here and there throughout the day from Olivia.

The belly is still growing.

Our big realization this week was that we're almost halfway there!  Cue me freaking out a little bit about how we didn't seem to get anything done in the first half of my pregnancy!

Next up twenty weeks!

I Love You Baby

I call Preston baby.

Always have. Never really gave much thought to the idea that at some point he might not want me to call him baby.

Apparently I should have.

The conversation went like this...

Me: "I love you baby."

Preston: "Why do you call me baby? I'm not a baby. I'm a big boy now."

Me: "Oh. Mommy has always called you baby since you were actually a baby. Do you want me to call you big boy then?"

Preston: "Yes, because I am not a baby anymore."

Me: "Okay, I love you big boy."

He thinks about it for a minute or two.

Preston: "Mommy..."

Me: "Yeah bab-- big boy?"

Preston: "You call still call me baby."

Melt. My. Heart.

Honestly I'm so relieved. I really hated to think that Preston was to grown up for me to call him my baby anymore!

He hasn't said another word about it since. Guess he always will be my baby no matter how big he gets!

I hope.

Pool Time

We've definitely enjoyed the pool in our hotel while we we've been in Bellingham!

Bald Eagles

While looking up things to do while we're in Bellingham I came across a site talking about the Kendall Creek Fish Hatchery and that you could see bald eagles during the months of December to February.  They were also supposed to have ponds full of fish.

We got lost on the way there.  My damn google maps didn't add one of the turns in.  I'm really thinking that it's time to update my phone.  I've been slacking and I'm hoping that the update will fix these kinds of things.

Getting lost led to us stopping at a gas station to get candy and use the bathroom while I looked at the map.  Only problem the only bathroom they had was a porta-potty outside.  Even worse the porta-pottty was surrounded by water.  Like a moat.  And Preston really had to pee.  I had to hop over the water and then grab Preston's hand and pull him over with me.  It was disgusting.  And awful.  I am not cut out for small towns in the middle of nowhere.

Finally we found the fish hatchery.  Only I couldn't find any fish.  The tanks were supposed to be full.  And there really wasn't a whole lot to see.  That was disappointing.  We were told that we could go check the stream through a side gate but that we might not have a lot of luck there either.

I saw one.  Preston missed it.  He was too busy racing around the area.  And making me nervous that he was going to get to close to the water.  So we hung out by the creek for a little bit just because it was so beautiful and Preston loved being by the water.  And then I started to get a little nervous about how we were out in the mountains by ourselves and with Brad having talked to me about cougars and wildlife and all that jazz.  So we headed back to the other side of the gate.

Since we'd already see all of the empty tanks we decided to look for the bald eagles too.  I was determined to at least see something and have Preston see something.  We couldn't have driven forty-five minutes for nothing.  Gotten lost for nothing.  Used a disgusting porta-potty for nothing.  Almost been eaten by an imaginary cougar for nothing.  We were going to see some eagles.

Two of them.  Up in the trees.

Preston wasn't nearly as excited as I was.

He enjoyed racing around and asking why we couldn't go into certain areas more.

At the end of our little adventure, I think we both had fun!  We were also both cold.  But the fresh air felt good.  And we had candy waiting in the car for us for the drive back to Brad and the hotel.

18 Weeks

We were out of town this whole week of pregnancy.

We spent the weekend in Seattle with Brad's sister and the week in Bellingham exploring while Brad worked.

It is so good that I'm feeling good again! I just can't get over it!

Not to mention how great it is to have enough energy to do things again. Like walk around Ikea. Or take Preston to the zoo. Just a few weeks ago I would have dreaded the idea of doing either one of these and now no big thing!

Plus the food. Oh the food.

My sister in law used her crock-pot the whole time we stayed at her house and I went ahead and tried to make up for all of the food that I didn't eat the first fifteen weeks. It was soooooo freaking good.

We did some swimming in the hotel pool too.

I played around with the windows in the pool area and took some photos of my bump while I was trying to decide if I was going to swim or not.

I did decide to swim.  Which means I had to bust out my bikini.  And show off the baby belly.

Ummmm also, my boobs.  They are growing.  And won't stop.  I'm already up a full cup size.  That part about wearing my bikini was really not so fun.  I can't wear my pre-pregnancy bras at all.  So I had to go out and buy new ones.  Which means I'm also not going to fit in my nursing bras I saved from Preston since I'm pretty much already at that size now.

Because I took them, here are more eighteen week belly photos...

Totally honest, I am loving the bump!  I'm sure in twenty weeks I won't be saying that!  Ha!

Next up nineteen weeks!
