Some Catch Up

It's time to play catch up in pictures.

Are you ready? Try to keep up!

One of the days I had Mason I styled both of the boys hair, check out how adorable they looked!

Another day we had friends over to play and when the boys got quiet, me and Kelly went down to check on them and found them in Preston's bed relaxing!

When it was lunchtime that same day, Preston insisted that he was a cat and proceeded to eat his lunch as if he really was one.

And the boys with matching hair styles! How cute are they?!

One of the days that I had Mason we went to play at a local pizza place that has a ball pit. Obviously both boys had a blast!

There you have it! A quick catch up of some of the things we've been up to over the last couple of weeks!

Blah Weekend

I'm sick. I seem to have caught a cold and I'm feeling very whiny because of it.

I don't want to get dressed. I don't want to climb out of bed. I don't want to clean anything up. Mostly I just don't want to be sick.

Poor Preston has been stuck in the house with me because of it. We didn't leave the house all day Friday or Saturday. And we only left the house today to pick me up some more Sudafed.

Oh and to run down and order the rest of Preston's big boy bed. We ordered the mattress over a month ago, but kept needing to run down to order the frame. So tomorrow if we make it down to pick it all up, Preston will have a big boy bed. You know after we put it together. At least his bedroom will have a big boy bed because Preston seems to see no reason to sleep anywhere except our bedroom.

We also ended up buying two more chairs for our dining room table. We always seem to be short chairs whenever anyone is here and I was just sick of dealing with it so we picked two out while we were at the furniture store. They don't match perfectly, but really I don't care because the table and chairs we already have are taking a serious beating from Preston and eventually I want to replace the whole set. Eventually meaning a long time from now when Preston won't trash the next set.

On Friday while I was moping around the house, Preston kept wanting to snuggle up with me. I kept telling him that he couldn't lay right next to me on the couch because I was sick. He kept telling me that he either wanted to be sick too or that he was already sick. Poor kid just wanted to snuggle. Luckily he ended up finally agreeing that laying on the other part of the couch with our heads near each other would work. And then even luckier, he fell asleep!

I for some reason decided to watch John Q tonight. Why, I have no idea? It is just so sad! If you need to cry this is the movie for you.

We were supposed to be in Coulee City this weekend. I was supposed to get to see my niece! And I'm seriously bummed that it didn't work out. I haven't seen her since Christmas! Do you know how big she has gotten since then? But then again, with me being sick and all I guess it's a good thing our trip got cancelled.

Somehow this is just all over the place. I blame the cold medicine.

Thoughts On Thursday

I totally slipped and fell in front of Target yesterday while holding Preston. It was snowing and slick and one minute I was walking and the next I was on my ass. My feet literally flew out from under me. It all happened so fast I didn't even know how to react. Even worse there were people all over the place! Seriously. It was mortifying. And my ass hurt! Plus poor Preston fell with me. Poor kid was holding a bubbles set that my sister had just bought him and the plastic scratched his face. So now he looks like a little bad ass.

So Preston looks like a bad ass and my ass hurts. Otherwise we are both just fine.

I'm hoping that one day I'll get over my embarrassment and be able to go back to Target. Who am I kidding, we love Target and won't be away for that long.

My maid has apparently quit. Or gone on strike. Either way she hasn't been around lately. Which means my house is trashed. Not dirty, TRASHED! I'm pretty sure it's wrong to live in this kind of filth. I really hope she comes back soon.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting sick. I've got this tickle in my throat and it's a little sore. Plus I slept like crap last night. Which for me usually means that I'm about to get sick. Blah.

I should preface this with I'm not pregnant. I repeat I am NOT pregnant. But I just spent the last forty-five minutes or so looking up fun ways to announce a pregnancy. There are some seriously lame ones out there, but I have found a couple that I think are really cute! I'm going to go ahead and bookmark those so that when we need to use one of them in oh two years I'll just have to pull them back up. Go ahead, you can laugh now.

I need to file my taxes. They are practically done, but I still have a couple last minute things to check on and go through. I hate taxes. But for some reason I like getting everything together. It's putting it all into Turbo Tax and then filing that I don't really love all that much.

Preston has been a terror the last few weeks! An absolute terror. I do not know what is going on. But he is hitting, kicking, biting, screaming, throwing temper tantrums about every thing and just overall not listening. I am about to lose my mind. Or what's left of it.

Pizza Play Date

Last week we got to tour a local pizza place and help make some pizzas. Pizzas for us to eat! Don't worry that pizza you ordered last week wasn't make by a bunch of small children!

I'll admit I had ulterior motives in taking Preston to this play date. I was really hoping that seeing where a pizza is made and how a pizza is made and getting to help make the actual pizza would encourage Preston to eat some pizza. I mean seriously, what kid doesn't like pizza?!

Preston got to help spread the sauce around on our pizza. It took him a second to get the hang of it, but then he seemed to enjoy himself.

While our pizzas were cooking we got to check out the cooler and step inside. Preston seemed to think that this was pretty cool. Get it, the cooler was cool! Ha! I crack myself up! Although I have to share that I did not come up with that one on my own I used to hear that joke and ones like it all the time when I worked with ice cream.

Then our tour guide showed the kids how the dough is made and let them help out a little bit. Their mixer was huge and Preston and all of the other kids seemed to get such a kick out of it! They couldn't seem to crowd close enough.

When the dough was done each of the kids got a portion of it. And got the chance to roll it out on the table and knead and play with it. Preston really got into this and loved being able to play with it and that it was his and just his!

Even Mason got some pizza dough.

In the end, Preston refused to eat his pizza. He wanted nothing to do with it.

Mason on the other hand was all over it! He ate a whole slice!

Thanks for inviting us and setting the whole thing up Kelly!

We ended up at Burger King with friends afterwards to let Preston race around and finish off the rest of his energy and so that he could have some lunch since he refused to eat his pizza. And so that he could enjoy having me spill my drink all over him. Oh yes, I spilled my pop all over him! Luckily he had a shirt on underneath his long sleeved top. Even funnier he thought I was going to blame it on him and the Burger King employee thought it was his fault and I had to confess that it was me who'd spilled it. It was so embarrassing! And I felt horrible that I'd made such a mess.

Girl's Night Out

I mentioned that I had a girl's night coming up! And on Saturday a girl's night I had!

We didn't make it to the movie, but we did do dinner and drinks. Well some of us did dinner and drinks and one of us only had dinner. Something about not being able to drink while you're pregnant?! lol. Which worked out in mine and Courtney's favor when Kait awesomely offered to be our designated driver!

Of course by the time I pulled out my camera I'd already had a few drinks. What? It happens!

The first picture took forever. Forever. I seriously don't know what was up, if it was my camera just being pissy or if I wasn't pushing the button down far enough (Hey I already admitted I'd had a few drinks by this point!). But you can totally tell that it took forever just by looking at it. OMG, the hilariousness!

Of course after I saw it and laughed about it, I insisted that we take another much better one. Fortunately it was a long stop light!

We didn't make it to the movie because we opted to visit the bar at Chili's for another drink or two instead. Funny story there. Me and Courtney ordered presidente margaritas. Then the bartender put our glasses down and walked away. We sat there for a few minutes, wondering what the heck he was doing. Where was the drink part of our drink? Oh wait! He'd also set down shakers but since neither one of us had ever actually had a presidente we didn't realize our drink was in the shakers and we were supposed to pour it ourselves! I only realized this after remembering Brad having ordered the drink before while I was with him. Seriously do you have any idea how stupid we would have felt if we'd told the bartender that he only brought us our glasses and forgot our drinks?!

We finished the night up at Courtney's house. Where somehow coming in to use the bathroom turned into hanging out for a while. An even longer while for me when Kait headed home and I stayed to drink and chat, and hopefully didn't overstay my welcome! Big thanks to Courtney for sparing her husband Josh so that he could give me a ride home and to Josh for the ride home, that would have been a long and cold walk!

Thanks for the night out ladies! I really needed it!

Fun At Chuck E Cheese

We went to Chuck E Cheese today. I know, surprise! We never hang out there.

Although today was different, it was my Mom's idea to go. And it wasn't just us. My little sister's Shannon and Marrissa came and my brother did too! It was practically a family affair. Especially when Brad ended up coming too. He was supposed to go back to work today (HAPPY dance), but when he got down there this morning they told him to come back tomorrow and they'd go from there. Blah, that was a short lived happy dance. On the positive side at least that meant he got to come to Chuck E Cheese with us.

We spent the afternoon there playing and racing around and wading through the crowd. Today being President's Day meant that there was no school which meant that Chuck E Cheese was almost as crowded as it is on a weekend!

Preston seemed a little overwhelmed by all of the people at Chuck E Cheese since it's usually pretty empty when we go in, but he got over it pretty quickly. Plus he loved that Daddy was there to play all the boy games with him. And Brad had the brilliant idea of letting him stand on a high chair so he could reach a couple of them!

Mason loved playing too! He really loves playing skeet ball, especially after I taught him how to win! Ha!

Preston loved having Mason watch him play some of the games, which worked out really well because Mason loved watching Preston play some of the games!

And no trip to Chuck E Cheese is complete without some time in the Chuck E Cheese photo booth!

In fact while I'm thinking about it, I have a question. Is it a bad thing when you kind of "know" the people that work at Chuck E Cheese? I mean know like they know what you typically order for lunch when you come in. Or that if one of them is working the door when we come in they no longer ask us the standard, "Are you here to celebrate a birthday party?" question because they know we're just there to play. Or that today one of my favorite Chuck E Cheese employees asked me if I'd recently gotten my hair cut. And another one asked me what I was thinking coming in on a holiday that all the kids were out of school and then asked me what we thought of the new games they'd gotten since the last time we were in. That kind of know. I'm not sure, does that mean we're there too much?! Actually scratch that, I don't care if we're there too much! We love Chuck E Cheese and their employees and that's that!

Thanks Mom for inviting us and treating us!

Thoughts On Thursday

I've had my nephew all this week, did you know that two kids is way harder than just one? Or maybe it's just because I don't usually have two kids and now all of a sudden this last week I have had two kids. Seriously, people it's work! I am exhausted! It's a good thing I love both of these little boys so much, otherwise I might just throw in the towel! Ha!

I did get my hair cut about two weeks ago. Thank goodness, otherwise I might not be pretty anymore!

Preston just told me that apparently there are two ways to say "I love you". And I just told him the mean way. Which was probably more of what I would consider the tired way. But Preston obviously considered the mean way. He then showed me the wrong mean way to say it and the right nice way to say it. "Otay Mommy?" That's the first time I've ever been told I said I love you wrong!

Today started out as a great day and somehow turned into a crap day before I knew it. Blah! What the hell? I do not get how that one happened. I blame the world. Just sayin'.

I have become hooked on One Born Every Minute on Lifetime. It's a reality show set in a hospital on the labor and delivery floor. It is so good. So good. And it makes me cry almost every episode. But the good kind of crying.

Actually it's kind of funny, when I was pregnant with Preston my Lamaze teacher warned us in the first class that she was going to cry every single time she played a birth video and she did and I thought she was crazy. Now babies being born make me cry! How's that for karma?

I get to have a girl's night Saturday night. I am so looking forward to it! I'm doing dinner, drinks, and a movie with two friends that I haven't had a girl's night with in more months than I can even remember!

I'm behind on my laundry. Only I'm not. It's clean. But it's just sitting downstairs on the spare bed waiting to be folded and put away. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I went to dinner with my Mom last night and afterwards when she dropped me back off at home she waited for me to get all the way inside my house before she left. She used to do that when I was younger and she had to drive me everywhere. For some reason I think it is just so cute that even though I'm an adult she still does it.

I need to go to bed now. Like right now. Because I am soooo tired!

Wordless Wednesday...Kind Of

My sister took this at Mason's birthday party last month and for some reason I just kind of love it!

Say What Preston?!

"Mama when you gots a hair cut you look pretty."

So sweet right?

Followed by...

"When you don't gots a hair cut you don't look pretty. And that's what happened."

Gee thanks Preston. And he was off to such a good start!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Isn't my little Valentine just the cutest Valentine you ever did see?

Weights Wednesday...Ha Ha!

Preston likes to do the 30 Day Shred with me...when I do it, oh how I hate you Jillian Michaels! Of course he needs a set of weights too. For lack of having anything better we've been using the little tubes that hold his parking garage up. It's hilarious to watch him do the workouts! Although maybe I shouldn't be talking, I'm sure it's hilarious to watch me too! If I wasn't so busy trying to breathe or cursing the ground Jillian and her little helpers walk on while I'm doing it, I might attempt to take a video of him. I might have to take a "little" break next time to do just that!

Superbowl Sunday

Superbowl is pretty serious in my family. Don't believe me? Check out the sign leading to the "official" game watching area...

We had a lot of fun, you can't go wrong with food, family, drinks, and football!

I'm not sure if it's obvious what team we were rooting for?

The commercials were awesome. Not as good as other years, I still really love the Doritos one with the little boy from a couple years back. "Don't touch my Mama. Don't touch my Doritos!" But there were some good ones this year. My favorite was another Doritos one, the one with the dead fish, dead plant, and dead Grandpa brought back to life. Hilarious! I also really liked the little boy Darth Vader and the "Timmy" ones with the truck.

Preston didn't care much for the game or the commercials, but he was pretty excited about playing with his cousins. And when he needed a break there were phones to play with and family to snuggle up next to.

I can't even talk about the game. It was just too depressing. At least they made it to the Superbowl right? I'm trying to stay positive here.

I hope I'm not the only one who had a great time during the Superbowl!

Hello There...

I took a little bit of time off from the blog. We just weren't doing a whole lot that was worth blogging about and I really didn't have anything positive to blog about. It was a little bit of an "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all" kind of a thing.

Where to begin?

Brad got laid off. AGAIN. He's in construction and construction is being hit hard with the economy where it's at. We're luckier than a lot of others in that if Brad's company has any sort of work they keep him on and he's one of the very last (two) to get laid off. So he worked literally until the company was completely out of work.

The good news is that his company does have work. Just not right this second. So he's off until work picks back up. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Really the sooner the better.

We've been trying to get some financial things figured out, partly just trying to rework our budget and our spending and partly to account for Brad's recent layoff. That's been fun. I hate stressing that some of the goals and plans that we set for ourselves this year might not happen because of this set back. UGH!

We've also been trying to make some changes to mine and Preston's insurance. I hate dealing with insurance. Hate it. Everything takes forever to figure out and it's so freaking stressful.

Fortunately I am over the "my life is over" mentality and am moving on knowing that this is where we're at in our lives right now and we will be okay. Very different from where I was last Monday when nothing was working out and the fact that Brad was laid off again was hitting me hard. I ended up climbing into bed and not climbing back out for the rest of the day. I was being fairly dramatic about the whole thing and needed to sulk about it. I'd convinced myself that Brad being laid off meant we were going to lose our house AND have to live on the streets. Both of which are just completely unrealistic because first we are getting unemployment and that makes it so that we can definitely afford to pay our mortgage. But second even if for some reason we were unable to pay our mortgage, as unlikely as that is, there is no way our family would let us live on the streets. I was just having a moment of self pity. Luckily for Brad, Preston, and the blog I've pulled myself back together and out of the pit that I was allowing myself to sink into. Thank goodness!

Although it really was nice to spend a whole day in bed while Brad took care of Preston.
