One Weekend Down...A Million More to go

We had a fairly quiet weekend. At least that's how I feel until I start to think about what we did this weekend. Then it just doesn't seem quite so quiet.

We started the weekend off with a bang. I invited my friend Nicole, her boyfriend, and their son over for dinner, drinks, and games. We had a great time. I had a little too much too drink. We all had way too much fun. At least I hope we all had fun, I know I did! Definitely going to start doing game nights with friends more often. I had never played Apples to Apples before and I can't believe what I was missing out on!

Preston started swim lessons Saturday morning. We were late. Shocker, I know! I don't think I'm ever on time for anything, my friends will definitely vouch for me on that one. Preston was exhausted and I wanted to let him sleep as long as possible. Finally at 10:30, I woke him up and quickly fed and dressed him. Swim lessons started at 11am. Good thing we live close!

Preston loved it. After he got over his confusion as to why we were leaving to go swimming, he kept thinking that I meant we were heading out to the backyard to do some swimming in our pool. Not so much, it's still cold outside. I explained that we were going to go swimming in the big pool, aka the YMCA.

Preston was a little unsure at first but he got over it and started to have fun. I didn't dunk him. I hate that part of swim lessons. He comes up furious and it ruins the rest of the class for both of us. What can I say he takes things personal, and I can't blame him since he gets that from me.

He's the only boy in his class and I'm the only Mom that showed up in a bikini. Is it strange that I actually felt really awkward about that? Like I was inappropriately dressed for swim lessons. Showing off a little too much of the goodies to the kiddies. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the next class. Hopefully I'll just get over it since I don't even own a one piece and can't remember the last time I did.

Preston and me spent the rest of the afternoon at my parent's house, avoiding Brad. Why was I avoiding my husband and home, you ask? Brad was working on the garage door and I really didn't want to help. Oops, I probably shouldn't have admitted that.

So I avoided home. And Brad. And the whole garage door experience. Good news? I didn't have to help. Bad news? Brad has officially broken the garage door and we now HAVE to call someone out to fix it. Especially since his car is trapped inside. Good thing his company gave him a van for getting to and from work a couple months ago.

Sunday we headed over to my MIL's house. Preston was thrilled to see that her boyfriend was there this time. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but last time we stopped by Preston walked in, looked around, and asked, "Where's Dave? (Pause. With more looking) He down there? (points to basement)". It was hilarious. We hung out and she fed us. Tacos, yum! We also talked about our upcoming vacations and some changes that are going to be happening that mean we will not be going on the vacation we've been planning. It's a long story and I'll share it all with you soon.

Home again. Where I had to start the work that I'd been putting off all weekend. Nothing like a little procrastination to end the weekend.

In non-weekend related news, but exciting news nonetheless, Courtney had her baby! I'm so excited! I went over and met him tonight and he's perfect. And their delivery story, well that's just amazing. Courtney did a home birth and her mid-wife didn't arrive in time. Sooooo Courtney's husband Josh delivered their son in their bathtub, while their eighteen month old, Zeke, watched Blue's Clues in the living room. Not too shabby of a story huh?

whew girl sounds like you had a busy one! Kyle took swim lessons when he was 3 and they wouldn't pass him because he REFUSED to put his head under the water :O)

Good luck Preston buddie!

My husband and son took a swim class at the Y. They had a blast. I haven't been good about going this winter. I will need to find my suit to go back.

Sounds like a great weekend!
Stopping by from SITS!

Congrats to Courtney!

And wear your bikini and feel proud of it!

By the way, when I was a little girl, I took it personally too when my Mom tried to dunk me.

Kudos to Preston for taking so well to the big pool :)
