I am so excited! So excited!
We got a phone call from Best Buy a few days ago. About my laptop. You know, the one that we've had problem after problem with. And not little problems, big problems. Thus far we'd replaced the hard-drive once and the motherboard twice. Thank God we'd bought the warranty and it didn't cost us anything out of pocket.
Anyways back on topic, Best Buy called. Called to give us the good news. My laptop was junking out! Meaning they were going to be sending me home with a new one. Just in time too. My warranty was about to expire, in February. Which meant that we would have had to pay for any repairs after February. Repairs that were bound to happen based on the laptop's history.
I was so excited! When Brad called to tell me that Best Buy said they were going to replace it I couldn't get home fast enough. We grabbed our paperwork and headed to Best Buy. To get me a new laptop! Or more accurately a netbook. I've had my eye on them for a couple of months and my desire to get one only intensified after talking with my friend Courtney about how she wanted one too, and got even worse when Courtney ended up getting one for her birthday last week. My little green monster definitely reared it's head!
The Best Buy employee told us when we got down there that the way a junk out works is that they find a comparable model with your laptop on the floor and give you that dollar amount on a gift card. Well the comparable model was $400 less than what we paid for my laptop three years ago. But it was better than nothing, so we were happy.
That is until the employee had some trouble getting the transaction to go through. He told Brad to hang on and went to talk to someone in the back. Came back out and slid our gift card once more. Then told Brad that for some reason the system was refusing to give him anything but a full refund. A FULL REFUND for a laptop that was three years old and broken!
I was overjoyed to say the least. With our store credit I was able to get exactly what I wanted at no out of pocket cost to us. A very fabulous red Gateway netbook with a two year full coverage warranty. Even better than that? We left with a $300 in store credit too!
It was a great day to say the least!
Best Buy, you've really turned our relationship around with this one! I think it's safe to say we may stay together for years to come.
For now, I'm just happy to have a new computer and not have to share with my husband. He's not so great at that sharing thing. But I love him anyways!
