Mother's Day

You know what really strikes me as odd about Mother's Day? It's a day about celebrating being a Mom yet instead of finding something special to do with our kids to say thanks for making me a Mommy, it's treated as a day where we shouldn't have to do any parenting. How weird.

Just because I find it odd doesn't mean that I didn't take advantage of the day a little bit.

I slept in. Not that it was strange for me to sleep in on a Sunday since that is my day to sleep in per Brad and my sleeping in agreement.

From there it was just like pretty much every other day. Except I didn't have to cook anything. So I guess it really was just like any other day in our household.

Preston really got into the spirit of appreciating me and decided to get some chores done around the house. A boy after my own heart. Although looking at my bathroom counter, I realize that it is very blah. I'm going to have to start looking for something to spruce it up.

We went to my favorite restaurant for lunch. I love this place so much that even though I was just there on Friday, we went again. Yummy. Preston pulled another one of his stunts where he shows that going out to eat is going to have to be put on hold for a while. Don't let the adorable look on his face fool you. He refuses to sit still and makes it impossible to eat once the food comes. Things went a little bit better this time than they did the last two times I've taken him to a restaurant. Mainly because Brad was there to assist and also because Brad's new iphone was there to entertain.

We wrapped the day up with dinner at my parent's house. My Dad bbq'd steaks and my sister made mashed potatoes and corn to go with it. Yummy. I love Mother's Day. I ate like a queen today and didn't even have to lift a finger to do so.

Gifts! I can't believe I almost forgot to mention what I got. Preston gave me more than just a clean toliet. Preston and Brad bought me a bookcase that I've had my eye on. I've been walking past it everytime I go to Target and trying to come up with a reason that I should spend that kind of money on a bookcase. Now I don't have too. Brad and Preston went ahead and took care of that one for me. Plus my Mom bought me a couple of shirts. Yes you read that right. My Mom bought me a Mother's Day present too. My Grandma even sent me a card.

Have I mentioned how much I love Mother's Day?
